Are you planning on visiting Tanzania? Are you wondering what the best things are to do there? Self-drive with 4X4 land cruiser rooftop tent with 4X4 Car Hire Uganda in Tanzania, the Land of Kilimanjaro, Zanzibar and Serengeti home to many of the best and biggest parks in Africa and some of the most varied and unique landscapes that you will ever see.

Tanzania was recently voted the both international visitors and by specialized safari operators. The country now boasts the top three ‘Natural Wonders of Africa’. The Serengeti National Park, Mount Kilimanjaro and the Ngorongoro Crater outvoting the River Nile, the Red Sea Reef, the Sahara Desert and Botswana’s Okavango Delta.

A road trip in Tanzania is a place to see extensively endless heard of wilder beasts and zebra trekking across the plains on their annual migration followed by lion, leopard, cheetah and hyena. It is elephant country, boasting some of the largest populations in the world. While Gombe and Mahale National Parks are home to groups of chimpanzees rarely seen in the wild safari can be enhanced by wide choice of beach holidays or various activities.

Below are some of the many activities one of the most stunning parks

The Great Migration in Serengeti National Park

The Great Migration is considered the world’s greatest wildlife spectacle on earth and the 8th wonder of the world. It is worth all the hype. The Great Migration is an amazing phenomenon. Because so many animals rely on wildebeest and zebra for food, the Migration attracts many other species while moving through the landscape, making for unique sightings of diverse species.

The best time to go on safari in Serengeti Park is August and September to see the great migration and your chances of witnessing a river crossing are generally much higher. Come early October, the rainy season in Tanzania will commence, and the herds will embark on their return journey back to the Serengeti

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro

At 5896m Mt Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain and one of the continent’s magnificent sights, the mountain has three main volcanic peaks, Kibo, Mawenzi, and Shira. The name itself “Kilimanjaro” is a mystery wreathed in clouds. It might mean Mountain of Light, Mountain of Greatness or Mountain of Caravans.

Climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro is the highlight of most visitors’ experiences in Tanzania. Hiking on the ‘rooftop of Africa’ the highest point on the continent at 5896 meters is the adventure of a lifetime, especially because, if paced well, everyone from seasoned trekkers to first-time enthusiasts can scale the snowy peak.

Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority

The Ngorongoro Crater is a breath-taking natural wonder. The Ngorongoro is one of the most areas in Tanzania to see the endangered Black Rhinos. It is currently one if the few areas where they continue to breed in the wild. Your chances of seeing a leopard here are also good and fabulous black-maned lions. Many flamingos are also attracted to the soda waters of Magadi.

I hereby list some pros and cons regarding the 4X4 car hire Uganda overall.

Pick-up and return:

  • We had contact via what’s-app with the relevant persons at 4X4 Car Hire Uganda. They offered a complementary pickup from the airport and drop-off at our hotel.
  • The staff could explain a bit more about the car during the pickup, for example how to set it in 4WD, how to use the fridge.

Experience using the car:

  • The car is very reliable. We didn’t get a technical breakdown despite the bad road conditions in Tanzania’s National Parks rough roads.
  • The car is very reliable; we didn’t even get a flat tire. Which is rare I guess
  • The car is very strong, sometimes the roads went up steeply, but it was no problem for the car
  • The rooftop tent is spacious enough for 2 people
  • The camping gear was good, everything was provided
